Arizona University tuition has increased 1094% faster than inflation in the last four years. Sen. Dean Martin has legislation to protect parents and students from runaway tuition costs!

UPDATE: 2006 - Sen. Dean Martin gets a provision passed to allow parents and students the option of a fixed tuition rate for a four year degree at Arizona State University (no more surprise tuition hike if they select this option)! A report on the success of this program will provided to the legislature and the Board of Regents. We need to keep collecting petition signature to keep the pressure on so that this option will be provided to all parents and all students everywhere in Arizona!

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

- Sponsored Prop 300 to END taxpayer subsidies for illegals

LOWER TAXES
	- Authored and passed REPEAL of Arizona's Marriage Tax Penalty - Authored and passed REPEAL of Arizona's Death Tax - Authored and passed elimination of $204 million in State property taxes - Authored and passed elimination of automatic income tax increases - Authored and passed Prop 101 to prevent property taxes from increasing just because home values increase - Signed the Tax Pledge, & Chairman of the Taxpayer Protection Caucus, promising not to raise or create new taxes. - Sponsored the Budget Stabilization Act to create a protected "Rainy Day Fund" that cannot be raided or depleted for pork projects but actually saved for a real rainy day!
OPEN & FAIR GOVERNMENT
	- Passed legislation to allow any citizen to request records by mail, and requires that the government PROMPTLY respond to ANY Freedom of Information Act request. - Sponsored legislation that requires 60 days written notice before a vote to close your neighborhood school.
SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
	- Sponsored Hurricane Katrina bill to prevent government from seizing law abiding citizens firearms during a state of emergency (vetoed by Governor) - Sponsored the "Burden of Proof" Amendment to the Castle Bill that put the burden of proof on the government, not the victim to prove it was self defense. -Senator Martin is a staunch defender of our Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. - Senator Martin helped stop attempts to turn regular citizens into criminals.

PRO-FAMILY
	- Senator Martin is Pro-Life and has supported pro-family and pro-life legislation. - Senator Martin believes that parents should be informed and involved in medical decisions concerning their children.

VICTIMS’ RIGHTS
	Senator Martin sponsored & PASSED bail reform legislation to keep dangerous sexual predators out of our neighborhoods and away from our schools. Proposition 103 & Chris’ Law - Sexual Predators just out of prison can no longer live next to schools. - Sponsored Proposition 103 to add rapists and child molesters to the bail restrictions currently in place for murder suspects. - Strengthened judges’ ability to set conditions of bail to protect victims, families, witnesses and our community. REPEALED the Victims’ Gag Rule - REPEALED the Victims’ Gag Rule that prohibited victims’ families from being heard regarding a murderer’s sentence. - Required judges to listen to victims when setting bail.
PROTECTED SCHOOL FUNDING
	- Sponsored legislation to protect our Arizona State Trust Lands which are a vital funding source for our schools while balancing the interests of conservation. - Fought against liberal special interests of the Sierra Club and the Center for Biological Diversity to pass this important legislation. - Sponsored and passed legislation that doubled the School District Extra-Curricular Education Tax Credit - Supported Passed legislation increasing K-12 education funding - Sponsored legislation to reimburse teachers for out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies
SCHOOL CHOICE
	- Senator Martin trusts in parents' decisions when it comes to educating their children. - Protected the Tuition Tax Credit, which allows taxpayers to direct their tax dollars to the school of their choice. - Sponsored legislation that expanded the Tuition Tax Credit

CONSTITUTION

Equal Application of ALL Constitutional Amendments - Preserve our Constitution
The Constitution was written to limit the government. The founding fathers wanted a small government because they understood that government has the duty to defend its citizens, but the tendency to dominate them if not limited.

The Constitution is the foundation of this great nation. We must not allow anyone to undermine this foundation by reinterpreting the Constitution to justify a liberal agenda. I will fight to defend our founding fathers and our Constitution.
